African jewellery beads reflect the colours of the Kenyan landscape. The Kazuri Beads used to create beaded necklaces and bracelets are molded by hand from the authentic clay of Mt Kenya. The bead are then handpainted by African women in a gorgeous array of vibrant colours.
The Kazuri Foundation was formed about 20 years ago when two women began experimenting with clay beads. Kazuri is Swahilian for 'small and beautiful' and reflects the colours of the Kenyan landscape. Today, handmade beaded jewellery is created in an incredible little workshop on the outskirts of Nairobi. The blaze of colour from beaded jewelry patterns is captivating & awe inspiring.
Kazuri employs single mothers, abandoned or widowed, from the local villages. Through this venture, many African women are able to find employment. Freedom from financial suffering is changing the lives and providing a better future for many African families.

Kazuri Beads are a part of the Fair Trade Act. Each bead sold helps the plight of disadvantaged people within the Kenyan Society. Such projects aid in finding clean drinking water and basic sanitation for impoverished communities.
