Cleaning and caring for your freshwater pearlsFreshwater pearls are more fragile than other stones and need to be handled carefully to keep their beautiful lustre.
It is not a difficult task to look after your pearls. Simply wipe clean regularly with a soft, lint free cloth. The cloth can be dampened with water
Your pearls will stay cleaner, if you put them on after you've applied makeup and perfume.
Avoid wearing in chlorinated water as this could discolour it.
Many cleaning agents in the kitchen and laundry contain bleach and detergents, so avoid wearing them when working in these areas. Pearls can lose their colour and shine when they are in contact with ammonia and some chemicals.
By nature, pearls are soft and will scratch, so Ultrasonic cleaners are not recommended.
